Andrea Loest is a New Orleans based artist and fashion designer. Her unique art to wear collection “Persona” features clothing that depicts various female personas, including characters such as “Gold Digger,” “Femme Fatale,” “Fiancee,” “Lady Boss,” “Divorcee,” “Serial Bride,” and many more. Each piece featured in her collection is a one of a kind work of art. The personas are described on the clothing by using handsewn text, silkcreen imagery, and applique.

Before Hurricane Katrina, Loest was a successful artist living and producing her work in New Orleans. Celebrities like Jessica Simpson bought and wore pieces of “Persona”, the collection was used in movies and other forms of media, and Loest was named the top fashion designer to watch in the city. After Hurricane Katrina, Loest was left without a studio and a market to sell her work.

Since the storm, her art to wear designs are traveling around the U.S. and abroad and will be featured at Seaplane through the month of February. A new special edition collection will be for sale and special order, and sales of the artwork will help Loest rebuild her studio and continue the developement of “Persona.”
